„fluorescent permutations“ consists of 48 fluorescent tubes, each individually controlled by a computer.
The used control system is not suitable for controlling fluorescent tubes and the tubes are not suitable for being controlled. This leads to a rather random behaviour and the installation can be just controlled in certain limits. By running the fluorescent tubes beyond their technical specifications, they reveal an organic behaviour.
The sound of the control electronics was amplified on a soundsystem by which the visitor was able to hear the struggle of the electronic components.
